Jenni Rope & Matti Pikkujämsä
Lokal, Helsinki, Finland
June 14th – August 19th, 2018
CASE gallery, Tokyo, Japan
October 12th – 21st, 2018
Jenni and Matti became friends when they were studying at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki in 1999. Blue Things is their first joint exhibition, and it is inspired by shared interest in exploring the interface between arts and crafts and in experimenting new materials.
The themes of the exhibition are friendship, the colour blue and the modulating form of square. Through experimenting new techniques they have found new ways to explore their own work and they have learned from each other. Placing two artistic approaches side by side has opened new perspectives into their work.
Unique paintings and originals as well as special designs for small Finnish manufacturers are displayed at the exhibition. Mum’s, Lapuan Kankurit and Sarita Koivukoski Ceramics were selected to be the cooperative partners. The exhibition will be set up in the Lokal Gallery in Helsinki in summer 2018 and from there it will continue to the CASE Gallery in Tokyo in October 2018.
The exhibition is made possible with support from Arts Promotion Centre Finland
